Just wondering if it were possible to charge the leisure battery in our Pennine Apollo trailer tent from the mains through the tow bar electrics.
Is there an "off the peg" charger or has anyone been able to make one?

100% definately not! to charge your leisure battery you will need the correct lead to plug into the post and then a 12v car charger connected to your battery once you are on site/home

That's a shame. Just thought there might have been a form of car/leisure battery charger that instead of crocodile clips, had a 7pin trailer socket on the end so whilst at home, the trailer tent believes it's hooked to the car.

That could be possible if you were able to wire a caravan socket to a battery charger but it is a bit of a waste of time when it would be far easier to permanently wire a smart battery charger to your van's main voltage circuit and leave that connected to your leisure battery.
This is exactly what I have done in my campervan. I mounted a compact smart charger under the bonnet and wired it into the mains RCD box and then connected it to the battery via a relay so the charger is disconnected from the battery when using the engine to charge the leisure battery. When I connect the hookup lead it charges the leisure battery and when I start the campervan engine it switches from mains charging to charging via the alternator.

That probably would be the best way to do it Martin.

A socket could be wired to a battery charger so that the trailer tent would plug into it, but it would depend on the size of the cable from the plug to the battery, and the output from the charger. A high-output charger could overload the wiring in the trailer tent.
