Hi all; I’ve just bought the above. Firstly, I have to get a tow hitch fitted. Id welcome advice - I’m assuming one pin is for lights etc and the other to charge fridge etc as you drive? So I need two 7 pins? Thanks
I take it the trailer has 2 plugs. One black and one grey. If so then yes you will need 2 sockets on your car. Black does trailer lights etc and the grey does trailer battery charge if battery fitted, keeps fridge at ambient temperature and fog/reverse trailer lights if fitted on trailer.
Our 2017 Countryman only has one lead, so we only have one socket on the car. I would take a picture of what you have on the trailer and check with the towbar fitter what you need, if you are unsure.
My 2010 Countryman has two seven-pin sockets: one black, one grey. My car has a Witter towbar which came with a thirteen-pin socket. I simply bought an adaptor for a few quid from the towbar fitters. Problem solved.
