I have been adding 12v led lights to my trailer tent and a twin usb port(not fitted yet). At the moment it runs off a 2 amp transformer (240v - 12v). I have added a 6 way fuse box which goes to all the different lights (2 bedrooms, kitchen toilet etc). I am fitting a solar controller and 12v battery for when im out and about in the middle of nowhere. but what i need to know how can i change from solar control (charging a battery) to 240v transformer without rewiring everything. When im using the transformer i wont be charging the battery just suppling the light etc. Is it possible to add a switch (3 position On Off ON) between the positive input to the fuse box. SO say position 1 is the 12v solar input position 2 off and position 3 12 v transformer input.
So when i get a 240v hook up I can put it into postion 3 and that would run off mains transformed. (battery disconnected)
In the sticks position 1 would run off 12v solar.

Do i need 2 switches one for the positive and on for the negative side of the input to the fuse box or would one switch on the positive side be enough with negative all connected together all the time?

Hope that makes sense. I have a 240 supply to the trailer tent where the transformer plugs into but i dont want to keep wiring up things all the time.

ok we arent in a trailer tent but a caravan, and all we do when using the solar panel is connect the panels wiring with crocodile clips onto the leisure battery, we dont do anything else, clearly when not off grid that the solar panel doesnt get connected up to the batter
