Actually, in case anyone’s interested, today I managed to carefully prise apart the basin, by soaking it in hot water in the kitchen sink and sliding a screwdriver carefully round. Having unscrewed the wast, I managed to pop it apart without breaking it so that I could get inside and whack a tight jubilee around the pipe attaching to the waste. Then I easily reattached waste to the basin. I cut the pipe though, so am currently joining it up again with some extra pipe and a connector, a bit like this link attached and more jubilee clips. Hopefully it won’t leak now!
