Hi new to the trailer tent world have just bought a Conway countryman trailer 1997 it’s pretty immaculate but I was wondering if it’s possible to obtain the back rests for the sofa seats (like the ones you see on newer models that have a bracket which goes under the bed…)

Also whilst I’ll be using hook up at times , sometimes I won’t - is there a leasure batterie that would power fridge/electrics for a few nights or would it drain it super quick?

I'm a solo parent and whilst I feel confident I can errect the main trailer single handed is it possible to put up the awning alone? Any tips with this! Thanks so much

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The Conway Company sadly went bust after a big fire at their factory and everything got contaminated with asbestos from the roof. I used to have a Crusader folding camper from new.

You may be able to obtain some things from PLS, Pennine Leisure who had a similar type of setup except for the beds. or contact The Conway Owners Club

Unfortunately though, a 12 volt fridge won't function on just a 12 volt battery, it draws far too much current and that setting is for use when being towed. it has to be run a while so already cold, plus the car engine is running faster than tick-over. It will only maintain a low tempersature by utilising the car's alternator. Gas is your best option if off-grid.

Dave.

Super helpful thank you for your response. I may go about making my own back rest cushions. The fridge does have a gas option do you know how you switch it onto that setting do i need to connect it ? Many thanks

To be honest I can't quite remember it was about 16 years ago but someone else who has one should know. From memory there is usually gas isolation taps for the cooker and fridge somewhere down near floor level. We normally used mains hook-ups.

As for instructions for use, look for the model number (its probably an Electrolux RM4200)
