Some sites provide ehu for tents, some don't. In your chosen area, assuming that the site you want to go to is listed on here, you can specify tent and electricity.

We have been told by a campsite we cannot have electric hook up, as the are only for caravans. Is this a new rule that's come in.
Odds are this'll be a site specific rule. You may have to go elsewhere if EHU is a defo requirement.
It's getting harder and harder to find grass tent pitches with EHU in the UK... or even sites that still accept tents full stop!
Don't get me wrong, there are still plenty, just nowhere near as many as pre-covid, and a sterner site search is required.
I strongly suspect, having spoken to a few site owners recently, that the influx of chav campers post-lockdown have done us tent campers no favours whatsoever!
------------- 2024: 38 nights thus far...
2023: 47 nights
2022: 40 nights
2021: 30 nights
2020: Just 24 nights
2019: A personal best 50 nights
2018: Just the 30 nights
2017: 34 nights
2016: 32 nights
2015: 38 nights
2014: 34 nights
2013: 36 nights
From July 2012: 23 nights
I have been on some sites that have EHU for tents but say no electric heaters in tents or awning. Presumably they are concerned about excessive use trying to keep an uninsulated space warm, especially porch or awning without SIG.
ok heres an idea, seeing as the OP has posted in trailer tents and folding campers section, could they have simply got the name of their equipment incorrect? such as how many times have people come on here and called their conway or pennine folding camper a trailer tent? loads of times! if they are parked in the same pitch as a caravan could be then there is no reason at all for not allowing them to use the ehu, and if they still argue the point then its time to find another site, after all there are plenty of them around

I wonder if they only have EHU to hard standing pitches
That too could be an issue, as in no EHU for grass pitches.
I just tried to book a grass pitch with EHU at C&CC's Salisbury Club Site for middle of December 2024, and all grass pitches, with or without EHU, including jumbo pitches are listed as "Sold Out".

In winter months only hard standing pitches in use, so grass shown as sold out to prevent you trying to book one.

Yes, I am fully aware of that, and was using it as an example of why EHU might not be available for tent pitches as mentioned in one of the earlier posts.
