I have just purchased my first folding camper 2007 Conway Countryman in lovely condition, when we got it home we opened it up to remove bed mattresses, cushions and anything mice might like (we live rural so do have mice 😥) I found I could not pull the beds open so my husband did this which was ok but I would like to be able to do it when necessary. Could the struts need re-gassing or maybe replacing is there anyway to tell if there is a problem or maybe it’s just me ☹️
Struts can't be re-gassed, they can only be replaced.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Sorry maybe I should have put economically viable versus new.

Your struts should have a reference number on the main body. Have a look around on eBay and you should find suitable replacements at a reasonable price.
As suggested above, get some replacements. I've used sgs-engineering.com with success in the past. If you put in some basic filters like size you should be able to find a match with yours.
I can't help with the struts, but how are you trying to open it? You may well know this, but I recall from your initial post that you're coming from a tent, so I think it bears mentioning.
You need to start it off pushing it up from the corner, then kind of walk around as it goes up so you can take the weight as it comes down. That way you can bend your knees a bit and push through with your legs as well as your upper body. If you're trying to pull it up relying solely on your upper body that will be harder.
If the struts are worn out then that won't work either, but if they're okay you should be able to do it. Good luck!
