Can anyone tell me whether trailer tents on CC sites are placed with the tents or with the caravans, and whether CC sites that don't accept tents (like Clumber Park) will take trailer tents?

I am curious as we have stayed at Chester Fairoaks last year with our tent (before we got the TT) and we were put in a separate area tucked in a corner. Do the CC really welcome TTs anyway, although their literature says they do?

CC accepts people owning both folding campers and trailer tents as members and they are entitled to use any of the club sites - we have a folder and usually just go on the caravan pitches , some TTs are much larger and may need a larger pitch to site on.

We have never encountered any adverse comments about having a FC on a CC site, in fact people are often fascinated by the Tardis like nature of them as we put up the awning and get everything out!

Ordinary tents (ie without wheels!) are a different matter

I am intrigued by this difference.   I telephoned and spoke to a nice lady at Longleat and she said that they would accept folding campers there but on the site web site it says caravans only but she said thats OK cos a folding is like a caravan anyway.

Conversely at the weekend I went into a site down near Chichester that states on the literature that they only take tents and motorhomes but no tourers.  I asked if they would take our folding camper and they said yes cos it's like a trailer tent. 

Well we folding camper owners appear to have cracked it haven't we.  We can go absolutely anywhere. 

I have a Pennine Fiesta and generally I've found that it's accepted on sites which are meant either for caravans only or tents only.

However, there are exceptions to the rule. I've just come back from a really lovely site in Llangollen. They let me on with my Pennine Fiesta folding camper, but said that they didn't let trailer tents on. The logic of this policy escapes me.

I've also been turned away by a place called Capesthorne Hall which is caravans and motorhomes only, and classes all trailer tents and folding campers as tents.

Generally though, we do seem to have the best of both worlds.

It seems that with folding campers have the benefit of being classed as either a tent or caravan, you've definately cracked the market then!

However, I have a Combi-Camp TT and when I open it without the awning, the hard top becomes the floor - it's almost like a FC.  So would that mean I'm in the same category FC and have the same benefits?

We have just booked our summer holiday 2 weeks in Guernsey in August .When we spoke to the site owner and we mentioned that we were going to be bringing a folding camper they told us to say that it is a trailer tent because you actually need a permit for caravan/motorhome but trailer tents are ok because they have canvas sides and roof .It seems that folding camper owners are stuck in the middle.So when we booked ferry we just said it was a trailer tent .Think i will cover the wording on the cover `folding camper` and hopefully we will be ok .The camp site are fine with it so i am not sure if we do get questioned whether that would happen at the ferry crossing or not ? Sometimes being a folding camper owner can be confusing  .Anyone heard about this stupid permit rule ?
