generally caravan site have three catogories tent, tralier tent and caravan so if you own a fc then they havent usually got a clue what you are!!! but you have the best of both worlds cause you fall under the same as tt on tent only sites but can also be a caravan on caravan only ones, as you dont require pegging unless you have an awning same as a caravan! brilliant eh!!!!
thats not quite true about the caravan charged for its size. We went away at the weekend with friends they went in their folding camper which when opened out measures nearly 25 foot plus the awning, we went in our 11 foot caravan with awning, guess who got charged the most? we did! our van is half the size but they where classed as a trailer tent. we had the same numbers of bodies same size awnings, only the awnings where pegged out on both and both of us had leccy
We have been on caravan only pitches only thing was we didn't get to put on the underbed skirts. So far we haven't been charged for the awning. Haven't as yet tried to take my "trailer tent" on a tent only site but don't expect a problem. The great thing is we can in poor weather use hardstanding pitches as we don't need to peg.
------------- Good friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget.
We are a folding caravan for "caravan only" sites and "trailer tent" if a tent is cheaper or "camping only " allowed- the benefits of a Dandy!
Recently booked for IOW for a tents only site- lovely lady on phone explained it was "tents only" as they had no hook ups and they thought anyone "posher" would want a hook up??
What one site considers a TT to be may not be the same as another site. When your booking your pitch make sure the site operator knows what it is that your taking. If in doubt get it confirmed in writing or by email and hopefully this will avoid any dissapointment.
