We're thinking of selling tent for a trailer tent.  Don't know much about them - which is easiest to put up, best make, ease of towing, etc.  What could we expect for £6-700? Hope someone can help. Please!!!

I think you should get a good second hand deal from somewhere for that price.  Have a good look round.  Ask lots of questions, like whats included for the price, how old is it.  See if you can go and have a look at some at a dealers as they will often have some up so you get more of an idea what you are looking for.  Most trailer tents are fairly simple to put up, make sure you get the instructions booklet whenyou buy one .If possible ask if you can see it up.

Whatever you buy, enjoy it.

some other good points too.

My Hubby is tall so we couldnt go for some of them in the end we bought a Raclet as Phil can stand up in the kitchen bit.

Some of the beds are only just a double.

some have  brakes on which is great when towing.

Try and get a Trigano...the tent cloth is heavier than most and will last a very long time. Have fun!

I have bought a TT, an old conway contiki, ( it has the bedroom area and the awning / kitchen / living area all in one.) mine was £350.00.

www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.towsure.com have brand new ones for £2200.

the only downsides with them, are they still need pegging out, also if you arrive and it is raining, you still have to get very wet whilst you put them up. ( then there is the how do you dry them out) after reading on here, folding campers seems hassle free, and at the Elvestan castle meet, I watched a couple dismantle their pathfinder in about 20 minutes!! lucky people.

Towing - I've never towed before and have a volvo v40, and it is easy - however can't reverse yet!! - got the extra mirrors for when I do.

makes,  - get a bottle of wine and trawl through all the headings with your reading glases on, we ought to do a vote on here for the best ones, like a "which " report!!!

good luck anyway

Have a good look round for a Conway, they last for age's. If the canvas look's clean you won't have any problem's. One other thing is they are easy to re-proof should you have any minor leak's.

Another good point is that you sleep well above ground level, that way you tend to sleep better and feel warmer.

Brake's are not normally something to think about, as they are not that heavy!

Have fun whatever you decide!

A well loved one whose owners are "upgrading" to a caravan. If you are new they often throw in lots of extras to get the sale. We gave away lots of bits we no longer needed rather than drop the price on ours.
