Hi everyone. Hi Dawn. Had our first unofficial outing in our old Randger TT yesterday. Went to Savernake Forest at Marlborough - lovely site provided you don't want toilets or showers - seriously! Beautiful site. And so quiet - probably cos no toilets or showers!

Anyhow, need to try to find out how to find the curtain hooks that work with the rubber strip of curtain "pole" in the old Randger TT. Many hooks are missing and I have been all over Swindon today looking for something to replace them. Have also been surfing a lot and still can't find anything that will do.

Help please

Hi , what sort of curtain hooks are you looking for? have you tried Swindon caravans ?  They stock most things. If it`standard West Country Motor Homes at Blunsdon Abbey will  try and order them.I`ve ordered some for our Motor Home, taken curtains down and washed them and want to renew hooks to put back up instead of held up with fishing line !!!!!!!!!! There was a thread on one site and they suggested Harrison Drape(They have a Web site) or Woolworths. Hope you get want you want.

Upside down with little feet sounds like its right! There's a loop where you sew it to the curtin. Could be wrong. If they're cheap enough anyway then yes please and let me know how much, including postage of course.

I need  - oh let me think, about 20-30 odd. And then I'll have a good supply too.

If you can't get them, then I'll try Swindon Caravans or the other suggestions. Will have a look in Woolies but guess they'll have the same selection as B&Q, Focus, etc - zilch! Will also check out Harrison Drape but that sounds a bit posh!

Cheers

Jill

If you haven't already bought some for me, Tentmad, please don't. I managed to find some in Wilkinsons today. If you have bought them, let me know the cost and I'll reimburse you.

Smashing thanks. For the benefit of others, they are made by Swish (as someone did say) and are called "10x GLIDERS Nylonglyde Twinglyde"

These do not run freely along the rubber strip above the windows and I am look to see if I can fit cafe bars. I should be able to hold them in place with one of the rings so they can be removed before folding the TT down.

What a pallaver!

Now I just need to fix the broken zip in the doorway! Looking at velcro and cotton ties at the moment...............

have a look in your yellow pages under taurpauline repairs and manufacturers they should repair it for you and it wont cost much more than the cost of the velcro, and be done properly then

Thanks for that. I've emailed a local company and await a response, although time is not on my side! I'm due to go to Cornwall Friday night/Saturday morning! My curtains look a whole lot neater now!

i would take a sewing kit with you, and get a new zip, there are quite a few places in devon/cornwall that sell camping gear, its an easy job, just unpick the old one and doulbe stitch the new in place, this will fill in an afternoon for you, but it will make you tent much more secure and windproof, if the wind gets in thats where you have problems as it could blow up instead of blowing down!

your hand stiching the zip on could then be redone once home with a sewing machine, shame i dont live nearer i would have done it for you.

I could do the hand stitching and do plan taking a sewing kit anyway cos I'm gonna replace the curtains while I'm there (cos they're 'orrible) but how do you machine sew a zip that's attached to an awning on a trailer tent - ie it doesn't come off! I get frustrated mending clothes on my sewing machine. Imagine trying to sew a zip on this!

Where do you live?

you have to sit with the sewing machine outside!!!! and sew it in situ its not that difficult but if you are worried just hand tack it in place first, starting from the closed end (top) and work your way down.

you daft mare!!! i told you the other day on the phone, middlesbrough, just below newcastle ish.

Thanks both of you for your answers.

I will have a go at hand-stitching if I can find a decent place in Cornwall to get the zip. Suppose one of those hand sewing machines might do the trick too?

Re curtains - yes I've had the same idea and already bought some poles and rings ready to do this. Gonna buy some decent curtain material first though.

Someone suggested putting candle wax on the rubber curtain strip to make the "gliders" move easier.

PS I am a "daft mare" - my memory is awful - soz!

PPS I am really impressed with the people on this website!
