Having just launched my awnining to meet the space shuttle at the international space station.I now require a replacment. I just need something lighter & easier to use. I,ve concidered a quality gazzebo , a stand alone motorhome awning and even cutting the back out of and modifing an old frame tent i own. I have heard that Dandy( or Riva) now do an acrillic awning but at £900 I,ll give it a miss as we are upgrading to a destiny in 18 months time. I currently own a dandy designer and find it just a bit cramped with the wife & 2 kids. With plenty more trips out in the next 18mths I still need something. Any advice will be very gratefully recived THANX.
Hi Nutty, This weekend I spoke to a bloke on site and he also said about a gazzebo. Do you have any waterproofing probs with this? As he reckond They are a mare to waterproof.Since it,s gonna be used as storage being waterproof is quite important. Thanks very much for your reply. Regards THUMPER.

I'd go for a stand alone awning from a motorhome if I was in your situation, or upgrade to the Destiny earlier! I have to ask, how did the old awning acheive flight?
Hi , thanx for your response. Yeah the more I think of it the stand alone looks the better option. Unfortonatly until my youngest starts school so my missus can get back to work I am a little bit light in the wallet dept !!!!. So the destiny is on the back burner for at least 18mths. I,m off to camping internatonal & Barrons this W/E so I,ll have alook at a few stand alones and hopefully find the right one. Now then , a heavy pvc awning, a scorching hot sun, whining kids, and a bad week at the office caused me to stuff the hatefull thing into its bag and launch it across my uncles farm !!! Geoff Capes would of been impressed!!. Regards THUMPER

Shame as you could probably have sold it and covered the cost of a stand alone awning. I've seen a wanted ad for one somewhere recently but can't think of where it was. If I think of I'll post it for you.
Hi Julian it has been retrived and I,ve got a bloke picking it up on tues. Well it,s 125 quid towards a suncamp moto awning i,ve looked at. It has every thing i need and comes with a 2 berth inner tent. That will please my nephews but not the missus!!!!!! Thanks very much for all your suggestions . Are you a member of the club? My membership is pending at the moment so if I catch you at a rally I,ll get you a cold one in !!! Cheers THUMPER.

HI I AM DESPERATELY LOOKING FOR A ORIGINAL DANDY 6 AWNING! WE HAVE A COTTON AWNING THAT CAME WITH OUR DANDY BUT WE WOULD LIKE IT TO BE A COMPLETE ORIGINAL CAMPER WITH MATCHING AWNING,I DON'T THINK TH AWNING WE HAVE WILL STAND UP TO THE BRITISH WEATHER. THANKS ZOE.
I have heard that Dandy( or Riva) now do an acrillic awning but at £900 I,ll give it a miss as we are upgrading to a destiny in 18 months time. I currently own a dandy designer and find it just a bit cramped with the wife & 2 kids.
Riva stopped doing the lightweight awnings - they did not sell. They are currently not making any new awnings from what I understand, but Ian at Riva is directing customers towards Tent Valeting Services who will make one to customer requirements for a few hundred quid according to a post recently on the Yahoo group.
Tent Valeting Services have a very good reputation (people have posted recommendations on this site) and make made to measure cotton canvas caravan-style awnings but they are priced at £800ish - or we've been quoted £400ish if they use our existing suncanopy polework. Personally I'd be happy to try a motorhome type awning by OH thinks it would look like a dogs breakfast! Anyone care to post a photo to prove him wrong?
