if you  are going for the first time try going with somebody who has camped b4 so you don't spend money on something you may not do again ,highly unlikely, but it also depends on how many trips away each year you will do what sort of places will you b goin etc and how much comfort you want personally i'd go for the tt easy toi tow and store almost everything can b left in it so you can basically hitch up and away you go we saw a mint tt for a single? person it just un folded and the top became the floor of the awning and the bed was the base ot the tt mint there are some small trailer tents out now which can b towed behind a motor bike but fold out in the most amazing way big enough for two people with an awning we have done the whole tent, frame tent,tt,caravan and back to tt much prefer the tt

If you're not sure whether they will like camping, then I would suggest they hire a tent for a week, that way they are not buying all the additional gear like stoves etc.

If they do like it, then the choice is more difficult. As what suits some people won't suit others. Do you mind being under Nylon rather than Canvas, as the nylon tents don't breathe like canvas.

Personally, for a dip in the water if I had decided that I liked camping I'd get a dome tent first, with the minimum of gear, and go from there.

The trouble is of course, until you try camping in a Trailer Tent / Folding Camper, you don't know whether you will prefer it. I have both, but only use the Combi Camp for longer trips, and if it's just a weekend away. I'll normally just pack the tent.

Oooh, anything just so long as it's camping stuff! Everybody on here is nuts about all aspects of it, (we're tin tenters), so just get whatever you can afford to get out there, you lucky so and so!

Only 51 weeks to hols and counting........
