Will be viewing CONWAY CRUISER 1991 tomorrow.  It has a tear underneath the window on the green canvas banding (OUTSIDE) Also a 6 inch tear to the window.Apparently repaired with something similar to fishing line by the owner.  The price seems reasonable.  Wondering if you can professionally have these repairs done.  Specially the window.  Its £1,250 to buy.

Appreciate you campers out there with your advise as I've never bought a Folding camper.

Thanks Andy,

The fridge doesnt work apparently.  It isnt getting cold at all.  I've read the 1991 brochure and it is supposed to be 3 way.  Does anyone know whether new ones can be bought or anyone repair them at all.

Is this the one on ebay? it looks more like a six inch gouge on the window and it will not be protected by the awning as its on the kitchen window ,

the tear in the canvas looks a mess.

very careless owners if you ask me {and I know your not} but what else is wrong with it?

no ulterior motive here I'm selling a camper but not near you!  i'd rather pay more for one that was better if its the one i've seen on ebay!!!!!!!

we got a penine pullman last year for £1200 when i put it up i ripped the canvas i was sooooo upset but luckily i did it and not hubby or i still would'nt be talking to him. any way someone on here said use copydex glue to mend the tear so we did and have used camper all season in some bad storms and the camper is totally water tight and you can hardly see the join. as for the fridge i can't help you there. but don't hurry to buy first one you see (ses me the compulsive buyer) there will be loads more for sale.

That sounds a bit overpriced to me, especially with the state it appears to be in. Friends of ours bought a (admittedly old) Conway folder about five years ago for £350 and it has seen them through very well.

For that price I would expect a complete and undamaged canvas.

Tent Valeting Sevices (TVS) have lots of experience of carrying out Conway repairs and do a very good job. If you do go for a Conway of any sort, join the Conway Owners Club forum and the Owners Club itself. You'll get lots of advice.

Is the fridge dead on both gas and electric (240v)? They don't get properly cold on 12v and won't come on at all on this setting unless you're connected to a car with its engine running. They seem to take an age to start to cool even on 240v, so you often think they're dead when they're not.

I agree with others who say that £1250 should buy you a good canvas. I think the fridge should work for that money, too.

Good luck

Tony

Thanks everybody for your kind and helpful comments.  Saw the camper yesterday and the canvas and window problems werent that bad.  The modern decor and immaculatly kept inner tents, original curtains, otherwise very good canvas elsewhere, out weighed the bad points.  I would have had to have paid probably another one-two thousand pound otherwise.  i'm hoping I judged correctly.  Hey, you cant tell you're pulling it can you!!!!!  Beats all that drag from a caravan.  Less diesel as well and copes with hills like a dream.

Cheers!!!!!!
