Can anybody give me some advice.

While away in the TT the other half did some washing of the small items of clothes and hung them on a couple of lines that I had put up of her to dry them on. What I didn't realise is that on of the items was touching the canvas. when it rained I noticed that there is now a patch that is not waterproof anymore.

I need advice on how to clean the area and how long before re waterproofing the area again.

Try rinsing the area as thoroughly as you can with plain cold water. Let it dry,  and then spray the outside of the canvas with Fabsil silicone proofer.

In my experience, spray on waterproofing lasts about 3 seasons, but it does depend on the severity of the weather you experience

Just some further points about fabsil if you're going to do the job away from home.

It's bit smelly when it's first applied if you're going to sleep in the unit immediately afterwards. Might be as well to check with the neighbours that they don't mind if the pitches are close. It also works better if it's given a few hours to dry before any rain/dew falls on it, so morning is the best time to do the job. It's also said to be damaging to the plastic that TT windows are made of, and grass doesn't thrive on it either.

Having said that, I first used the stuff 30 years or so ago and I've never had any trouble with it at all!

Ian
