Hi

We are looking for our first trailer tent. We have been on a few camping holidays over the last few years (Static Caravans) and have decided that it will be much cheaper if we were to buy a trailer tent. So the search is on - We need quite a big TT as we have 3 boys. We have seen a few on ebay and seem to like the look of the Sunncamp models 350 & 400 SE. We reckon on spending up to £1000 with the hope of getting quite a new model to hopefully last a good 7-10 years (our boys are still young 1, 6 & 8).

Suggestions / ideas appreciated. Also I dont want a massive trailer as I am going to be storing it on the driveway (under wraps) as I have no room in the garage.

I also need to have a tow bar fitted to my Zafira, does anyone have any idea on the prices for a fitted towbar??

Any advice / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul

We were in just the same situation last year.We were lucky and picked up a Sunncamp 500 for £650 privately (it also had gas/sunn porch/under bed tents etc etc.I dont think the trailer dimentions are that different (unless you get one without the cooker).

As for the towbar i fitted mine myself for £130 (brink + 12n electrics) .All it took was a morning.

A browse through Yellow pages should get you a towbar fitter easily enough

Have a look on the ukcs For Sale boards, they have loads on there and most of them seem a pretty reasonable price too!

Worth checking a couple of times a day too as there are new ads going on all the time.

Good luck

Hi, we had a Conway Campa (very old) and it was great. Conway and Cabanon makes are more expensive but in my experience and talking to others the canvas and zips etc are of ma much higher quality.

best bet is to try and get hold of a used Conway with underbed tents, or some awnings you can get annexes on which can be used as a bedroom.

Trailer tents are easy to put up once you've done it once.

Good luck

i agree with phil1 the canvas is treated with a decent waterproof

when i bought my pennine sterling i had problems with midue when i made enquiries i found out that with these new laws on chemicals that the waterproofing used in this country is less superior than anywhere else because we are so pc for the environment

so buy foreign conway are now owned by pennine so the waterproofing will now meet the same eu standards as pennine

the older conway trailer tents are brill
