just returned from my first season camping with a new pennine pathfinder and would be very grateful if any other more experienced campers could help with a couple of problems i had

  • when boiling the kettle,i had to turn the hot water switch off to avoid tripping the system
  • toilet seat does not stay up without being held.Very tricky for my little boy
  • could not attach front skirt over wheel arch as no press studs have been put on the camper body (press studs supplied ,hope im not suppose to fit them,DIYnot my thing)

cheers D

Too high a powered kettle you need one around 750 watts.

Toilet seat not my department but John has never complained!

Fraid it is a DIY job for the press studs. I got a bit uptight about John drilling the camper but he put some sealant on at the same time.

You can use velcro instead of press-studs.

You will trip the fuses if you use several appliances that draw a large amount of current. These include a normal kettle, the water heater, and electric heaters.

The skirt that attaches over the wheel arch with the press studs , was on our first attempt at erectinging the awning tucked over the wheel by our young son which seemed better than fixing the studs to camper and we find looks just as good though if it is really windy will require you to tuck back behind  wheel as it can flap down now and again .

If yours is wrong, so is ours!  Our toilet lid and seat won't stay open either, so OH sits down!!!!  I'll accept it's a bit of a nuisance, but a small price to pay for the inside loo which was the only way ScampisOH would consider canvas rather than a caravan!

  • toilet seat does not stay up without being held.Very tricky for my little boy
  • Debbie,

Could I suggest you teach your little boy to sit and meditate rather than standing. This way you keep the floor clean and the seat as well as a more relaxing visit.

I am always amused by the males who complain of difficulties doing it on trains, aircraft and buses.

Half the worlds population have no problem so why do men?
