Just been reading all the posts about high winds. We are quite new to camping and on our first two trips had very windy conditions, on the second trip my cousins t/t blew in and they returned home at 5am! We stayed ok but it was quite scary, rocking quite a bit.
We have a Pathfinder and I didnt realise you could get underbed skirts, I hadnt seen those in the Pennine brochure, where did you get yours Dita?
Pennine Plodder I have been looking at your pictures and I like your sun canopy, is that a Pennine sun canopy, ive never seen those either.

Hi Tracy,

Wow am I pleased to hear the Pennine outlasted a TT in the wind stakes - it gives the rest of we Pathfinder owners hope!

Our Pathfinder is now 5 summers old.... The underbed skirt we have is just at one end, the newer models come with the skirts at both ends.  I understand it is possible to get them fitted if you contact Tent Valeting Services at Bolton.  They require the canvas to fit a zip to....... I'm unsure whether it would be worth it for us at this stage, plus the idea of taking the canvas off fills me with dread....  We have been tempted but in terms of storage we use the one already fitted and it's not at the Tow bar end OH says there are often times he needs to get into the gas cupboard so bunging things in there would make it difficult.  We use a windbreak round the end if necessary.

The suncanopy is an adapted Conway suncanopy from Tent Valeting Services - cost less than £200 including poles.  We had to take the awning over there so that they could match the zip.  It's one of the most useful bits of kit we've bought.  It's good for short breaks both early and late in the year, it gives us somewhere dry to take off coats, or to eat under if the weather's kind.  We can fit daughter's tent under one end if necessary.  We still use the awning for long breaks and I've adapted the suncanopy to fit onto the outside of that (see gallery) - It's better this year because I fastened ties onto it.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do

P.S. Just referring back to the original topic, the suncanopy rolls up back onto the outside frame when windy, and the ties I attached just hold it secure.

Hi Tracy,

We got our bedskirts at Burcroft Camping as an extra when we bought the FC.  They only fit at the non-towbar end and we use the space for storage whilst we're away.  Means we haven't got loads of stuff cluttering up the awning.

Penine still supply them but only in sets of two for the newer models that have zips on both ends. Maybe a trawl through the Classified on here would come up with some for you.

Our 'storm' strap (awning tie down kit) is from Towsure, about 7 items down this page.

HTH

I've been in a few storms with the Combi Camp, and the only thing that blew me away was the quality of it!!! LOL
