Hello Everyone 1st post so go gentle on me.Question-What is it about Sunncamp Trailer Tents that makes them seem so unpopular?-They always seem to be cheaper than conways, etc and always seems to be on "special offer" somewhere. There are plenty for sale on EBay.I am thinking about buying one purely for the cost. Can anyone advise me wether or not to buy?--Thanks.

Hello - think its the old saying "you get what you pay for!" Many think the quality it not so good (canvas), I did a lot or research before purshasing my first trailer tent and having spoke to owners of both sunncamp, conway, raclet I found many said they had problems with the sunncamp however, many are happy with their sunncamps!  Good Luck - love my Raclet and the beds are so comfortable!!

Hi - I bought a 2002 Sunncamp 400SE a couple of weeks ago. I had the same problem as you when I was looking, however as I am sure you will find, many people of this message board have a sunncamp and have been very happy. I have only been away for one weekend so far, however I have to say that (when I finally got the thing up) I was very impressed - these things are huge and appear to be fit for purpose.

I paid £1100, however it came with loads of stuff included, therefore I was more than happy with my deal. Even if it does me 3-4 years, I will have got excellent value 4 money...

Also worth noting that this model won the trailer tent of the year award for 2005.

Good luck with your hunting

Paul

Hi,

We have a Sunncamp 400 SE and it has taken us sometime to master putting the awning bit up but I have to say once it is up its been brilliant.

Hope that helps

Hi, we brought sunncamp400 se brand new this year. No problems so far and it is very big. Yes they are a little cheaper than some but it is exceptional value and for most of the year will be in the garage. I think that there are so many for sale because people are put off by the time it takes to put it all up. Took us 4 hours the first time with   a bit of stress but once we had the awning up properly we used colour tape to mark the poles and it now takes us approx 1.5hours and is quicker to put down - especially if it looks like rain!!This model won trailer tent of the year, very spacious, comfy beds and very good value! ENJOY!!

Just while I think of it, one of the problems we had was pushing all the metal button things in (I'm sure there is a technical term !). We found them really stiff and ended up with really sore thumbs.  The solution ?  Bookies' pens ! Seriously, they fit over the button perfectly and it makes it much easier to seperate the bits of pole.

I bought a Sunncamp 250 eight years ago and use it several times a year.  Never had a problem with it.

I picked mine up for £650 and it came with all the extras (spare wheel/gas/undertent beds/lights/sun canopy) and it was a 2000 model .I think you waould have to pay an awful lot more to get an equivilent Conway/Cabanon.

With reference to the spring buttons we replaced ours with new ones and have no problems (10p each i think)

The only minor gripe is the canvas colour (see profile)but i can live with that

I would have no problems recomending a Sunncamp

we loved our sunncamp 250  and if i hadnt needed to change to a caravan because of my health then we would never have sold it , and if I thought they were rubbish I would never have sold it to good friends who love it just as much as we did.

their is nothing wrong with the brand , they are a great product

We love our sunncamp as well, done us proud this year, never let in a drop of rain, never blew away, stayed erect and taut, we love it, it is a 1989, but made of strong stuff, good as new...

Go on, be a happy camper!!!XX
