Well Sooz I would tend to agree....... but Dandy's apparently have been designed with exceptional resistance and I notice that the new units are guareenteed for 5 years against damage from mildrew and damp!  The point is with canvas I would getting agitated after about 24 hours and to last a month without ill effect is pretty impressive!  You only have to miss the tiniest bit of damp with canvas to end up with a ruined tent....

As I say when I first heard about them I thought people were mad to design something in PVC ... forget it I thought but reading up about them it is the tenting world's answer to cavity wall insulation.  Very clever. I am going to see them on a rally so I will find out.

The awnings I believe have unweildy  and something am concerned about.  I understand, and heavy but I notice that they are advertising new lightweight awnings..... which may/maynot address this problem.

There are huge profit margins involved in conventional folders, in my opinion, there are problems for companies marketing a product that lasts for 20+ years.  It is simply not in their interests to push the product.

Sooz I can tell you that from personal experience that I packed our Dandy down in the pouring rain, left it for 6-7weeks (by accident) opened it up on a weekend rally and it was fine! Yes it's best to make sure that they are stored away dry but if you can't it doesn't matter. Winter storage is another matter entirely!.

Tent_peg, The awnings can be heavy and if you want condensation then use a Dandy awning! It drips off the inside of the roof like light rain! But the main unit is great and we've never had a problem with condensation at all. Dandys seem to hold onto their customers with people who start with an old one upgrading to a newer one. The chap who used to make them always said that if he was at a show, and demonstrating how to erect them. he would find people who owned one and ask them their opinion and that would be all the sales talk he needed

Dandy all the way  Like julian says the awnings are the only things that let them down. They are swines to put up & have thier own "eco climate" when erected properly !!! The new accrylic lightwheight awnings have addressed this problem tho  Going to get one when I upgrade to a Destiny. I did have a little mould once on my old Dandy4/5 which I suspected was due to a damaged trailer cover. However a warm soapy sponge wiped it clean off. Unlike canvas any mould won,t impregnate PVC so in the rare occurance of finding any it simply wipes clean. All in all they are tough, reliable, and easy to live with. A credit to British enginering Regards THUMPER.
