It is now November 17th 2005 and despite attempting to get the Howling Moon manufacturer to give us an update on the "Re Manufactured and waterproof cover" that they promised to put speed into making. We have had no reply to our requests.
We then approached their UK Distributer and forwarded all the corrospondence between Us and the manufacturer to them. They too initially said they had not received the copies of the mails when we telephoned them.So we sent another set of mails. They confirmed receipt of these mails.
One of their representitves called us.He said Oh you cut us out of the loop (this is something they keep saying).Yet they themselves admitted all the covers thay had been supplied by the manufacturer had the same defects when we first highlighted the problem,so where else could we go ?.
We told the Distributer that sold the tent system to us that it was not our problem if the Manufacturer was not keeping them informed and in due course telling them the cover was not fit for the purpose ,and that due to the findings they were going to put speed into making a new and waterproof version .
Then we were told the Cover we were supplied with was a new version and it had not been tested.Anyway that was in September. We agreed to discuss a proposal by them that they would send us the old type cover (they claimed this was waterproof) and that would get us by and as soon as the new cover arrived from the Manufacturer they would send that on to us.
So we agreed to give them the chance to redeem the situation and sent duplicate letters agreeing with their proposal and asked for the warrenty to be adjusted to when we received the new cover and found it to be satisfactory. (we felt this was a fair & Equitable request as we had not used the tent and they had sold us faulty goods).
We received no reply.in the following 3 weeks,so we sent copies of the letter by registered post which we know they picked up.Still no reply or indication saying they agreed or not with our letter content.
When we received no reply and despite us calling them (earlier last week) and during that call being promised that they were very sorry (loads of apologies),that none of this should have happened, that a cover should be with a shipment they were expecting (last Friday) that if it was there they would send it to us for us to try immeadiatly. We were also promised a letter confirming their promises of a resolve and that they would call us either way on Friday whether the cover arrived or not.
Guess what...No letter arrived and no contact as to whether or not the Cover arrived or not,No e mail,no Telephone call,no letter.....
It's now 17th November 2005 and we have not receivedor heard anything.
It's all a bit sad really because we really do like the design and yes when we met the distributer at Billing they were very nice, full of call us 24/7 365 days a year,we will sort the problem out no matter.
Shame really,Nice people but sadly, there are serious communication problems (if you see it from our point) between The Distributer and The Manufacturer, and essentially the customer who has a problem.
It all goes quiet until we call them, then promises and no corrective action/silence follows.
Hence I could through our experience (and I really wish we did not have to say this) I would never recommend Howling Moon to anyone.
I am glad we are not the sort of people to just stick the new kit (no matter what it is) on or in the vehicle with out testing and examining it first before motoring off into the distance to find problems.
At least we were not away somewhere and then found the problems, not that we could not have coped but more had we called the distributer for assistance, god knows how long it would have taken to sort the problems out.
A damn shame...really
