Changing from a caravan to a tt or fc is not going backwards.
My wife and I have enjoyed motorcaravans, caravans and tents over the past 40 years and we much prefer the Pennine Pullman fc we presently have.
It has more space than our biggest twin axle van and is much easier to tow than the smallest a Corniche. On the road our car and fc are a dream combination. If I have to unhitch and push it I can do so without effort.
We dont miss not having to make up beds at night and then packing the bedding and cushions away in the morning. And the bedrooms, with spring interior mattresses, are great for storing things during the day. Everything is off the floor so it stays dry and clean even when it is raining hard.
Our car does at least 40 mpg towing in cruise at 60 compared to 20mpg in our Land Rovers at 50. We did'nt dare tow the cara's at 60 because of instability.
Once the fc is unfolded and set out (15minutes) we can drive off site in comfort in the car unlike having to use bikes or the bus or feet when we had motorhomes.
Last year we had holdays in a furnished cottage with log fires and all mod cons, a 2 week cruise to the Italy/Venice but enjoyed the weeks and short breaks in the camper far more.
The food is better, we choose the scenery and company, no flying and airports and luggage to carry.
I am going to bed now to dream of bacon sandwiches and fresh coffee savoured by a Scottish burn, overlooking the Cairngorms on a warm spring morning before the midges are up.
