Sorry for the confusion as i should have used secondary attachment instead of breakway cable. Of course your correct in the situation of the cable puulling on the breaks and therefore not taking a great deal of force onto it.
However the original poster said his trailer did not have breaks and in this situation the cable or chain would take significantly more strain than on a TT with breaks. Again i stuck with the same terminology as the original poster, which I agree was incorrect of me and caused some confusion.
The point I was trying to make was in my opinion its best to use a cable or chain that is made for TTs etc.
Once again sorry for the confusion and the late response (ive been on nights and not been able to check up on the posts.)
