Hi I have an Esterel Primatic folding caravan which seems to be a lovely little 3 berth camper in good condition.

The problem I have though is that one of the brakes does not seem to be operating correctly.

I have removed the wheel and was going to remove the brake drum but it doesnt appear to have the screws in it that you usually find holding a drum in place.

Does any one know how to remove the brake drum on one of these as I do not want to risk damaging it by trying to tug it off if there is something holding it in place that I can not see.

Cheers Jim

It might have a castle nutholding it on. Does it have a metal or plastic cap in the middle of the wheel?

Hi Andy

Thanks for the info.

Hi  Julian

Yes it does have a metal cap in the middle with a castlenut behind.

I didnt want to remove it withhout first knowing if it was necessary has when I have removed brake drums in the past I have left the nut in situe.

On these systems you will need to remove the castle nut and then the whole drum will slide off. Be careful though as the bearings will come with it. If you look in the files section here (you'll have to join the forum to read them) there is a guide to setting up the brakes.
