Opened up our Pathfinder after the winter only to find that the apex roof struts had rusted and leached onto the canvas. This caused lots of grinding of teeth and tears!! Anyone got a good way of removiing the rust stain off of the canvas without ruining the look or the waterproofing?

I am sure there must be some sort of canvas cleaner that will not effect the waterproofing, try your nearest camping / caravan seller or the net.  I have used cleaner on canvas without ruining the waterproofing.

Many thanks for that link. We also had mould on the bed boards but we have dealt with that. We cleaned it all off then treated the boards with wood preserver inside and out.I think the smell has now gone!

It is the first time we have left a unit outside (the previous TT and then the Pullman fitted into the garage) and we made the fatal mistake of not investing in a winter cover. Something we will now purchase as the fitted travelling cover leaks through the stiching if there is prolonged water on it.

Still we live and learn. £200 seems a little amount now to pay to prevent what could have been fatal for the folder.

How old is the Pathfinder?  Contact Pennine - they may be able to advise.  We washed and waxed the base unit cover each year, but where is the stitching you speak of?  Our Pathfinder had an all in one cover (no seams).  We had the water settling problem during the summer and the birds thought it was wonderful to bathe in..... The winter cover kept all dry over winter.  However we also took the cushions and mattresses into our attic, thus the air circulated well, therefore there was no mould.

We use a chemical for removing rust stains at work. Will take a look to see what it is tomorrow.
