we are loooking for a tent to buy to enjoy , as we have sold our caravan due to repeted theft of our drive and the worry we have decided to get a tent that we can get into our garage either a folding camper , trailer tent or a large frame tent and are looking for affordable sutable tent for us , we are a mom and dad and 2 little monsters and a small dog
total budget is 300 for the tent ,so guys any ideas please
we are also confused by some of the catalogs we have got
what does the season rating mean , if its say a 2 season tent does that make it that you can only use it for 2 seasons (ie 2 years)
or can it only be used 2 seasons in the year
Think long and hard about the change from a caravan to a tent. We've just gone through the opposite route and heavens I hope you know what you're letting yourselves in for. The best advice anyone can give you is find out what will fit in your garage. If a traler tent is the best option - go for that. We loved our tent, then we thought the Folding camper was the dogs b******ks. We have now fallen completely for the caravan. We can keep it on our property and lock it up and alarm it etc etc - We feel we have done as much as we can to ensure it's safety and as a consequence - our holidays. The 'luxury' of a caravan cannot be matched by a tent - believe me. The folding camper is the next best thing and then the TT.
yes we are aware of the diffrence pennine plodder, but when you have had the stress with it that we think we have done it right , and caravan windows are actuly quite easy to get open as a caravan fiter showed us once when we had some damage caused by our 1st atempt , are folding campers easy enough to cope with
The FC brigade will tell you that the FC's are great. They are absolutely right, they are great. Caravan base with canvas topping. They fold away onto themselves and anyone trying to gain access to the inside has to be bloo*y cheeky and know what they are doing. To get at any of the storage areas the unit has to be set up properly. The trick is to ensure that your unit canot be taken from your drive. Hitchlocks, wheel locks, leg locks and a cemented in post so that they can't get the unit out without oxy-actylene (spelling! sorry) equipment.
ok thanks for advice, but the last time the van went walkies it was lifted with a lorry crane over our front wall , we are thinking the trailer tent route so it can go at the back of our garage , as a f c are quite wide ,
I think if I had a caravan I would fit a tracker as they seem to be easily stolen these days.
My FC is locked to my house. I fitted a tow ball to the front wall and attach it to that with a hitch lock etc. The commotion needed to remove it would draw the attention of all our neighbours.
If you go for a tent go for a frame tent as in a wind their easier than a dome tent to put up, the weight can be equal to a modern dome tent and it'll last a hell of a lot longer.
I've got a Countryman but up in the loft I've got a Cabanon Andorra FT and won't part with it, even after nearly 8years it still looks new and with a Cabanon you get what you pay for
We used to have a trailer tent (we are trying to sell it at the moment) and its great because it sits nicely in the garage with space still for junk!! There is quite a lot of storage and when you are pitched there is loads of space and they are easy to tow. I know cos hubby make me tow every year! Good luck making a choice!
