Hi, I got my TT from ebay recently and the owners advised to waterproof it before using it and as such I have no idea when it was last done - how long would this take as I don't have room to open it up at home and the weather is a bit random to say the least!

I could at a push take it to my dads 60 miles away but I would need to bring it back afterwards.

I used Thompsons Brick Sealer and left it up for 2 days to clear the smell.

Whatever you decide, try to use a paint sprayer, you can buy them from any diy shop. makes life eaiser

Fabsil is expensive!  Thompsons is the same stuff.  Look on the tin - its suitable for canvas.  When I went away last weekend it pee'd down.  No leaks.  I applied just one wet coat with a handheld pressure sprayer.

Its always better to spray on the waterproofer than to brush it on, so that you get an even coating and no darker brush strokes showing up when its dry.

Ive used Thompsons brick seal my self and it did an excellent job.

you would be better of leaving it erected for a day or so for the smell to go.
