Hi All,

I had my first few days away in my trailer tent, after altho we managed to get it all setup fine I have a few questions.

1. All around the skirt where its pegged down I have elastic bands and plastic hoops which do I peg because when it was pitched using the rubber bands the wind would catch it and we would get an almight draft underneith and if it was pegged using the plastic loops, we spent most of the night repegging it due to the wind pulling the pegs out.

2. Around the back of the tt where the drawbar is how should the canvis be pitched - is it tight up and down virtical inline with the inner frame work or out at an angle away from the tt.

all in all and considering the galeforce weather we had it was a most enjoyable way to spend 2 night.... great fun and cant wait for the Northumberland meet.

Cheers

Chris

Hi chrisio.I had a TT for many years but now im a tin tenter.I used to peg out using the rubber bands then i would peg my ground sheet to the inner flaps to stop all the drafts. As for the back of the tent pull the canvas away for the frame on a slight angle to stop the canvas rubbing on the bedroom area.Hope this helps

The black plastic rings are to thread a replacement pegging rubber through when the originals perish.I had exactly the same question a couple of years ago with our t/t!! and as the walker familys says pull canvas slightly away from the a frame/chassis.We have also moved on to a tin tent but had many a windy night on Anglesey and in Snowdonia and survived!.What make is your t/t? We had a Cabanon Galaxy but only changed due to wifelet being a porg(person of restricted growth!) ie about 5'1"

Thanks for the replys, My tt is Conway thingymabob.. not to sure on the model tbh prehaps some one will be able to tell me when I get to the meet. I went away with a few friends and left the wife at home this time cos I wanted to be reasonably ok about putting it up and not having a huge barney with the wife when we couldnt work it out.

whats the best way of putting the canvas up, is it leave all poles on the lowest setting then peg out and then raise the poles to make the canvas tight or is there another way.

Hi Chrisio

Welcome to the site, we usually leave the legs short till we've got the canvas over then raise it up, then peg it out just make sure you dont raise it to far and the rubbers can still be pegged down.

Happy camping
