I've got a 6 week old pennine Pathfinder supplied without a stabiliser. I do find at imes due to perhaps speed or raod surfaces that the car starts to Wallow I guess due to the Camper starting to slightly snake.

 

My car is VW Passat capable of tonwing 1300GK and the trailor is gross maximum weight 100kg.

 

The question is should I go for a sensible bet of an Alko 1300kg  with 2 pads or a 3000 kg with 4 pads. Not sure of the real benefit of 4 pads for a unit this size. Is it worth the extra £70-£80 to go for the 300kg when the 1300 is already 300 kg beyond my trailor's max gross weight ?

Plesae help as I'm lost !!

I suppose any of the stabilisers you mentioned will do. Personally I have never felt the need to use one. Even when towing a heavy American hardtop, which I towed with a vw golf. But they are like any saftey device...... they will always be there if you need it. I,d go for the cheapest option though !!! but then again thats just me

Hi there, we have a Pathfinder and when we bought it we were recommended the Alko with two pads - we went along with it and are pleased, although we've never towed it without so wouldn't know the difference!

I asked this question when i bought our fc was told by most of the people that they never used or needed one so we have pulled our fc about 10 times and its so easy,nothing better than saving money on an item you dont really need.
