Just gone back to having a trailer tent again and purchased a Trigano Chantilly with fitted kitchen on trailer.

We would like to start going out reasonably local for a weekend over two nights but the prospect of pitching the awning each time and setting everything up only to take it down again on the Sunday morning is whats putting us off at the moment.

Our awning does zip on/off so we could use the TT without awning, but what do you do with the kit you take, ie kitchen, chairs, table etc.

We thought of buying a sun canopy with a side to give a bit of protection, and wonder if there is a generic canopy that fits all TT's (probably not!)

We would also like to hear from others who do venture out for the weekends to share your experiences on how you "do it "

All help greatly appreciated

Andy

Hi andy

The short answer is that we dont do for less than 3 nights in our TT its just such a faff - with regard to storage can you get under your bed space - if yes then I would suggest that you store stuff under there on a ground sheet.

kind regards

Debbie

I have a combi camp which is up in seconds and a day tent as a free standing awning, or I use my sun canopy with sides....the stuff goes on top of the trailer on the rack and in the storage box

Hello. We use our trailer tent for one and two night stops regularly. Just the cabin area takes ten minutes to put up. Our awning is huuuuugggggggggeee lol so is only used for trips of a week or more.

Have a sunncamp utility tent (not day tent) that we use with our Raclet T T, just for short stop overs......... we cook and keep things in this area. (best thing we have ever bought)

So it really is the best of both worlds.....

Have fun and enjoy your weekends away.

Hi Andy

I don't have anything as grand as a day tent just a utility tent. Have just added pics of my T T to the gallery.

http://www.camperite.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=23

if you enlarge the image handy tent should be able to see it ok. Day tents are fab. We just wanted somewhere to cook in and store things.

It is quite easy to pitch this along our T T and we have not ever been asked for anymore money.

Hi Cat

Many thanks for this info, it looks just the job and about half the price of a day tent I've seen.

I must admit I really can't recall seeing these before but would certainly do the jod for us.

Thanks for all your replies and I will do a bit of research on the net to find the cheapest place, possibly even second hand

Thanks to all

Andy

Just changed from TT to folding camper for the reason you are experiencing, but we used a gazebo with sides, this did the job no problem at a fraction of the cost. Tesco now sell the sides for £9.99 a pair. Just make sure you use guyline to secure the gazebo.

I'm really glad of this discussion as me and DH were discussing this very topic! Have booked two night stays either side of our two week holiday in the Summer but couldn't face putting up the awning... Off to buy a daytent (the Outwell one looks quite good)
