  hi tessie

you could try reproofing it as the water seal always darkens the canvas

ok i did this 2 years ago on our folder it worked out so much cheaper than getting a new canvas,  go to the dylon stand and pick up a leaflet phone the customer services number and order the colour you need   , i presume you have a 1990's burgundy (pink now) canvas?  to get that colour you need to order 8 red and 3 brown and mix it together, take the canvas of the frame and lay it on a pasting table, do the painting then once dry, which doesnt take long stand and iron it, this is where you get the funny looks from, my neighbours thought id gone mad ironing the "tent" !!!  this fixes the the colour, you then must reproof the fabric several times the more the better, then once back on the frame get the hose pipe out and wet it to shrink the fabric again as you would if brand new, if need be reproof again, best to do this part thouroughly at home rather than find out its leaking when away!!!

good luck, but it will look like new again after and the work will be well worth it

i tried just about everywhere i could think of before starting ours and this was the most effective way, and was easier due to us being able to do the sections over a couple of days in my own time. i found that no one would take the risk as they couldnt guarentee their work which made it immpossible for them to do, or the cost was so high that it would have been nearly as much as replacing the canvas, the total cost to do the cardinal was £120 when i did it myself and this included the waterproofing the replacement of the canvas was £1500 huggggggggggggge saving!!!

don`t laugh too hard I wont be held resposnable if you died from laughing, we picked up a conway cruiser, it had all new canvas and awning 5 years go, the trailer it`s self is at least 20 years old as the door is on the wrong side, ie its on the right side nearest the front which is none uk.

dont you now fall on the floor laughing we paid the sum of 75 quid and it`s in useable condiction just needs a clean and reproofing, but want to redye the awning aswell from pink.

sorry i thought i made it clear in the wording when i said paint it on!!! you need to buy the fabric paint, it comes in large bottles that you cant buy from the shops you need to order it direct from Dylon

Dylon is the name of the manufacturers, they have stands in the likes of Dunelm mills and other fabric retailers, sometimes craft stores,

when we had our FC i found out what the problem was with the canvas, it was a manufacturing fault, as they did the huge run of fabric coloured it, proofed it, but forgot to uv it, so in the sun within a short period of time, even here in the uk, it got bleached out, hence why there are so many pink canvases around!!!
