Hi all

I know this questions been asked before...but im going to ask again.

We are after a trailer tent(newish to brand new,as i want to keep it for a while)for myself, wife and 7 year old daughter(so at least 4 berth). It must be quick and easyish to erect, have kitchen to possibly include a fridge.

Our last attempt at camping was with a large 12 berth tent, which we have since sold, due to the wife moaning about having no lighting,no fridge and deflating blowup airbeds. Also she wanted a plug to plug in her hairdryer!!!!

I know it probably seems like we should be looking for a fc,but alas we cannot afford one yet!

I have been looking online at the cabanon stratos(which ive read to be good)...any others?

Any ideas would be appriciated...

Why not look at a well cared for second hand folding camper? Folding campers have less setting up time than a trailer tent but all the luxuries of a caravan (but with permenant beds)

"Quick to put up" and "Trailer tent" are pretty well mutually exclusive concepts, apart from the CombiCamps and other similar ones. And even they take 15 or 20 minutes for the awning.

Your average standard design trailer tent will take 45 minutes to an hour to put up fully down to the last peg and interior clip, and that`s with two of you. About the same as a big tent. Where the trailer tent does save you time is on some of the interior equipment set up time, such as not having to blow up airbeds, not have to set up camp kitchens, having a lot of your equipment already in the storage boxes etc.

I do think if you want very fast set up time, really good kitchen and a integral fridge you should be looking at second hand folding campers as Lisa says. A trailer tent might still be a bit too unsophisticated for your missus!

But if you really feel a TT is for you, why not buy a goodish second hand one to try it out? Trailer tents are like cars...the first mile  from the showroom is the most expensive one you`ll ever drive, while you can  sell on a well looked after used TT for the same as you paid for it after a year. By that time you`ll really know if trailer tenting is for you and exactly what you want in one and go and buy new. Or start saving up for a folding camper.

Most trailer tents come with a kitchen these days. You can usually go for the option of being wired for electric if you buy new. Or buy a EHU. If you want lighting then you find something suitable and plug it in, ditto if you want a fridge. Water comes in an aquaroll and leaves in a bucket.

FCs usually have all this plumbed and wired in.

I think you need to go off and do some general reading of websites, plus have a look on Ebay as auctions often have really great descriptions and pictures of the various units.
