Hi
We have a Dandy Designer with the standard Dandy PVC Awning.
This is to much of a pain to put up so can anyone recommend a free standing porch that we can use on the Dandy. Any ideas would be welcome.

Hi,   How about an EasyCamp Annexe (link below) ?, we use one for short stays when the awning is too much to erect for a weekend. It's just under 2 metres square and is ideal for table chairs etc. We paid £55 from SK Camping in Godstone, reasonable price for a reasonable annexe.

Ray.

Thanks Ray

This was the one type I was looking for. Headroom ok all the other seem to be suited for a caravan or high level Motorhome. I ordered one this morning from the place you suggested.

Thanks again Ray

Hi Graham have sent my 'original' Dandy awning back to Riva to have zips put in the sides, after much debate. People in the Dandy group advised me this makes it a lot easier.. There seems to be a 50/50 split between those opting for zips and those opting for a drivaway awning type arrangement.

I did it because it means that I can then have Sun canopy... or awning depending on my mood.  Will find out I suspect if a success shortly!!

I use a drive away. Its soooo much easier. I used to have a tunnel drive away which got damaged but now have a conventional type awning. It fits snug against the Dandy & is very secure & waterproof. For the life of me I cant think what make it is (bought second hand). I bought it off madwomancas. I find it so much easier than the PVC swines !!!! & lighter too !!! I can stick it up in under 15mins on my own.

THUMPER.

Thanks everyone

We had a 6 berth Dandy with the PVC awning. Perhaps we didn't put it up properly. One night it was pouring down and my son and his friend slept in the awning. In the early hours of the mornining we heard a crash, we looked in the awning and found it had collapsed. My son said there was a big bellowing in the roof which we assumed was water together with the weight of the awning that was to much for the poles. Thats another reason we don't use it

Oh er that happened to me actually graham... It is about correctly guying and tensioning the roof apparently.  Actually mine did not collapse was quite impressed because hells teeth there was gallons of water up there.....  My Dandy awning is also still on probation really though I am hoping the addition of zips will sort it out. (What I really would like is one of the new wonderful lightweight awnings they are making now...but cannot afford one... sigh...)

I suggest you go to Dandy rally, seriously, you first one is free and they will sort your pitching out.... There is one in July soon in Northampton area.... Just a thought.
