Hi,

I am due to pick up my folder on Saturday.  Is a sterckerman, but have also seen it advertised as a Casita, so not sure if they are one and the same.  Any way am impressed with some of the pics of the "done up" vans.  I had a gobur several years ago which met with an untimely and scary end.  So has taken me a few years to get back to the "folder".

I didn't realise that you could paint the inside!  Not sure why I didn't but just assumed you couldn't so might have to give it a lick of paint when it arrives, although it doesn't seem in bad condition, just a little dated.  I feel quite inspired to give it a make over when I get it back.

I won't be using it until next year which means I have a good long time to do bits before I use it.

Looking forward to getting back to camping in somthing other than a tent.

Here is a link to the one I have bought

http://www.caravanfinder.co.uk/caravan/Trade/9F516F764D0B6CD580257650004D571B/

I will enjoy reading other owners posts.

Hello All,

Just joined the forum as we have acquired a 4 berth Casita, and looking for a bit of advice.

One of the torsion bars has snapped and I need to remove this torsion bar to have it repaired, I'm flummoxed as how you removed the brushed aluminium covering which runs horizontally in front of where the bar sits on the wall. I don't want to start pulling and hauling at the aluminium covering as I'm concerned that if I attempt to pull it off, it will pull half the wall off along with it.

So over to the restoration experts.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Rokati

Hi Rokati, glad to hear you bought a Casita, we had a 4 berth 3900 which i literally rebuilt from the ground up....pictures are posted on here in the first couple of pages in this group.

Stripping out the end panels to replace the torsion bars is not at easy task but it can be done.I ended up using 2 sets of scaffolding and a scaffolding plank to support the roof while i stripped the end panel down.....You need 3 days of dry weather as well.

Papadore, and Davenann,

Many thanks for your responses to my query, much appreciated, I've taken up your suggestion (papadore), and posted my question on the other forum, so hopefully someone will have the answer.

Again many thanks for your input.

Regards

rokati

hi all, just got a Casita, the mystery switch turns off the 12v lights in mine ( mine in on the cooker cupboard top) when the side folds in I cuts off the power to the lights, presumably to stop running down the battery or heating up bulbs if you forget that they are on, hope this helps.

Hello all, im new to the Casita club. I purchased a 3 birth 2 weeks ago and will spend the next couple of months refurbing it. I have updated the electrics from European to Uk sockets this weekend. However, while stripping the kitchen and electric cables I found absolutely no wires or connections to a 12v leisure battery. my assumption has been that all caravans have a leisure battery? Any advice in locating this would be appreciated, The fridge has controls for Gas, 12v and 220v with wires going into all 3 so im a bit confused...

Hi All,

Just purchased a casita saturne myself - has a similar experience in terms of being shocked at the absence of a battery!
