Me and hubby are just having a fall out over the folding camper, we haven't used it since the problems getting it up the drive, and hubby as asked a friend with a 4x4 to tow it up the night before we go off and park it on the road side. I don't like the idea of it being on the road, and hubby said we could hitch it securley with the bulldog hitch lock. I don't agree someone could just break into the car and drive them both away. would you park yours on the road?

Having just lost our keys and seen a locksmith removing the wheelclamp and hitchlock, I wouldn't have too much faith in these devices.  He picked the lock on the wheelclamp and didn't even have to pick the lock on the hitchlock as there was a nut he managed to reach and undo.

Theives could drill out the locks or just use brute force or grinders.  The best bet is to contact the insurance company and see if you are covered when it is on the road.

Hi Lopo, would'nt like ours on the road, but on the road or of the road its always stealable put a wheel clamp on hitch lock on and a she alarm under the body so it goes of when the camper is moved, by the way police give the alarms away free or next to nothing if you go to your local station. Hope this helps

Thanks for  the replys, hubby went for a walk down the drive and had a proper look at taking it right back, and is going to have a proper dummy run at it. I feel so relieved, we love the camper and the thought of having parked on the road was making me feel ill. So fingers crossed for tomorrow night!!!!

Well we had to park ours out once. Never had any problems in our quiet road. We put the one car in front, the other behind, wheel lock, hitch lock, you name it! John said she would be fine. I cried! he slept like a baby I was up to the window all night........ of course she was fine but it was, for me, a lousy start to the holiday! ( Stupid expression that "slept like a baby" 'cos our little darlings never slept!)

You'll be alright on the road for 1 night, its when they are parked for any length of time, as they say thieves, spot it the first night, weigh job up on second and come back on third to pinch it.

Yipee

No need to park on the road!!!

Hubby took the camper right back down the drive and .........it was a breeze, what a relief, getting it up the drive, no smoking clutch.

Hubby is so happy, he as been worrying for days over it.

Roll on friday now, and see you all at the national meet.
