We can only go away for two or three nights at a time cos of hubby's work and are getting a bit sick of spending up to two hours pitching camp. It's not the tent but also the air beds, sleeping bags, cooker and all the clobber you need for kids' stuff that seems to take all the time. We are thinking about getting a camp-let cos the man at Camperlands seems to think his is brilliant and takes no time at all to put up. Does anyone out there have one? Would it be a good idea for going away every weekend?
There are three main models I think, Apollo, concorde and Savanne. I think they start at around 3K so it'd be a massive investment but I would think of it as instead of three summer holidays abroad cos they so expensive now and then in three years it would have paid for itself (except we'd have had more rain I suppose!).
They are a trailer tent but the kitchen swings out at the back and theres no frame to put together, you pull the canvas and it all comes up in one, they look very good, see the link below for camperlands and it will give you more information.
We purchased a Camplet Concorde in March and it really is brilliant. Very easy to erect easy t o tow and store and very comfortable. We have used ours many times for Saturday to Sunday stays theyre ideak for weekends. I would definately invest because they stay good for years apparently
We bought a Concorde at Easter, and so have only put it up three times, so it's still taking us a couple of hours to get everything sorted, including pegging and the groundsheet, but the kitchen is available within the first few minutes so you can at least have a cup of tea while you're doing it. I'm sure we'll speed up eventually. We still use an airbed as I find the mattresses a little too thin (but then I may just be a bit soft).
One thing we've found is that the instructions don't tell you how to peg the thing out - it took us a couple of goes to work it out: the first time we used it we turned up in the dark and made quite a mess, but it kept us dry nonetheless.
We are really pleased with it: other trailer tents just seem overly large for three people and this one is so easy to tow. The canvas is very good quality and the zips are reassuringly chunky, so I'm sure it will last us.
We bought the extra bedroom and the sun canopy walls which were very useful this past week when it rained a lot - it means you can use the sun canopy to eat under and gives you more space, and the annexe gave us a bit more privacy since H's son could sleep in the annexe instead of right next door in the trailer!

Well, I can confirm they do last for years. We bought ours (a Camplet Royal) second hand last year for £500 and it is 16 years old. The guy we bought it from used to tow it across Europe and had a lot of family holidays in it. We use it mostly for weekends (like the OP, we got tired of all the pumping up of airbeds and building up the camp kitchen, etc) but have recently had a week away in it. I think it's great, very comfortable, a breeze to tow, and quick to put up and pack away. I'd love a new one but £3k is a bit much for the amount of use we'd get from it, so I am happy to stick with my old one for now.
P.S. There is a photo in my gallery if you are interested.

We have found it doesn't actually need much pegging out. The man we bought ours from said he didn't peg out at all for overnight stays when he was touring in Europe (but I'd not recommend that in our climate!) We used 6 or 8 pegs to secure the corners when we were away for a week, and that's about it.
There was a while ago several discussions about Camplet and Combi-camps (similar to Camplet) and I remebr a forum being set up. I've managed to find it here. I know it's for Combi-campers but they also included camplet in it as well.
I really wouldn't risk not pegging it out at all: we put ours up on our drive to air when we got home, and of course couldn't peg it, so we weighted all the edges down, and it still blew over twice in what was really only a strong breeze!
I agree that you don't need to peg it all out if conditions are good, but we really did need every single peg and guyline at Easter in Derbyshire!
Thanks for all your replies and advice. I am now happiest new owner of our new baby camplet. Was quite nervous about towing it back from the shop but it was easy, and I only scratched the bumber a bit when I unhooked it and it rolled forward a bit! (very light!), So its waiting in the garage and I'm Just dying for the weekend to christen it!
Thanks lots for all your replies don't think I could have done it on my own!
