hi, we have a stratos with kitchen, with 2 under beds, cost brand new just under 3 grand. yes the kitchen is a bit weighty but great for storage, we cover ours with a cover you use in the garden for furniture, that you buy from local supermarkets. we were lucky it only rained once when we were cooking, but if it had got heavier rain we would have un-zipped the front and bought the cooker inside the tent, just make sure you put some thing flat under the legs so it doesn't mark the ground sheet, we have a old bit of carpet that we took with us and think we'll get some more, cut into smallish sqare's to place under legs. plenty of room there are usually 4 of us with 2 dogs and still plenty of space so go for it!!!

Hi Chris,  not been on here for AGES so havent answered your questions re the Stratos.... I will now though...

We have used the kitchen both in the porch bit of the stratos and also in the awning, both have their advantages... I think we will use it more in the porch when we buy the sun canopy (more expense) next year... as I prefer it to be at right angles to the front of the tent and it is a bit long...  Using it inside is no problem at all, the awning is HUGE and we can easily get all our stuff, chairs, table etc inside, with dog and three children....   We put it to the right of the awning as you look in....   no problem with groundsheet.. we put small squares of wood under feet just in case.   I think the sunk back kitchen alcoves are just great but I wouldnt sacrifice the convenience and style of the Stratos just to have one.... I love the kitchen and wouldnt be without it.... have you seen the DL for sale on ebay - currently up to 2250?   Ours was A SNIP and we are delighted with it... good luck, let me know if you want any more info.   My email address is  jakks360 at tiscali.co.uk

Thanks jaks360.

Still not bought a stratos.  I've been watching the one on ebay but I spoke to a dealer this week and he said cabanon might (or might not!) be making amendments to the dl model for their 2007 models (which are out soon).  I will wait until I know this before I do anything.  Hoping to get a winter deal on a stratos.

Cheers

Chris

There was one on ebay finished on Sunday, I am sure you saw it... bidding went up to 2450, which I thought was more than fair... my Husband said we should sell ours for a profit to stop me fretting about storing it over the winter, the damp, the mice....ohh it is such a worry!!!!!!  Just been out and covered it with tarpaulin as an extra layer of cover...   lol

Hi Jakks,  Just put my FC away for the winter today, It is best to put something like a 10inch upturned flower pot in the middle of the trailer cover so the tarpaulin acts like a tent. This keeps the trailer dry and allows it to breathe in the airspace. See other winter storage posts for other ideas.  As my FC is quite long I made a wooden frame to keep the tarpaulin clear along the full length, just like a ridge tent.

Ray
