Hi

forgive me for being so stupid but it is a while since we last owned a trailer tent.  I want to ask about levelling.  What is the best way to level a trailer at the top of a hill.  I don't fancy rolling down it.  Do we need to use the jockey wheel or not?  I know you lower the legs and all that but is there something else we should be doing.  Help .. We are going tonight.

Thanks Amanda

Best thing is not to park on a sloping pitch at all.

But if you have to, then use the jockey wheel to level the tt, then apply the brakes (if you have them) PLUS chock the wheels. Never, ever use the steadies to lift the trailer to level it..... they are there to steady the trailer, not be weight bearing. The jockey wheel and the main wheels are the weight bearing ones.

The aim is to get the trailer level, of course, so that the beds are level. But there`s not a lot you can do about the awning. Put the trailer at the top of the slope, so that the awning slopes down away from the cabin. You don`t want the cabin at the bottom otherwise you get a nasty rain-gathering dip at the zip ajoining the cabin.

But once again, try not to pitch on a slope unless you really have to. Tell the campsite owners when you book  that you have a TT and as such you need a flat pitch.

Yes, you could chock the jockey wheel too, but we usually just turn it sideways and make sure it`s tightly closed.

Yeh

It is our 5th visit, there are 15 of us going tonight for 14 nights and another 11 coming next Saturday for the following week.  The men cant wait to get in the sea and it is out twin boys 9th birthday on Monday so there is much hyper activity at the mo.  We go to the top field so we get a good view of the sea when we get up.
