Mine takes about an hour to cool on gas or 240. I,ve never used the 12v option.

Thanks to everyone who have responded to my post.

Mike / Roy many thanks your responses have helped me understand how the 12v option works. 

No need to look like a fool when reporting a NON existent problem to the dealer
