Hi, I am new to this site and indeed camping all together, I have the chance to buy a conway tardis, 1986 model for £1200, it does not have electric but have been told this is cheap and easy to do, is this correct. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is a fair price and what we need to look for to ensure my kids are safe. I live in the Grimsby area and would also like to know if there are any decent campsites no more than 45 mins ride away. Hope someone can help. Tracey

I see no reason why you shouldn't buy a decent quality tent hookup with three socketsSite Mains Electrical like this one from towsure. Ours has "keyholes" on the back so it can be permanently attached to a suitable cupboard. It costs £53 and will run what you need.

Hi traceyraya,

we bought a Conway Tardis (1982)  earlier this year, for £760 & we love it. We've been out in it 4 times (although once was in my parents back garden and another was on our own driveway), we had a lovely week in Wales.

I would recommend having a good look at the undersideof the floor at all four corners. The roof lifting mechanism bolts through the floor and can pull out if the floor panel is rotten. Looking at the winder mechanism when you open the flap on the front, the socket that you put the winder handle in should sit in the centre of the hole. ( I noticed mine wasn't and after removing one of the cupboards i could see the bolts holding the winder mechanism was starting to pull through but it wasn't bad enough to require any new floor panel, i just plated the underside with a steel plate and rebolted it)

Take a look at the http://www.conwayowners.org.uk/forum/default.asp and they'll be able to give you more help.

I hope you've found a good one and go for it

Darren
