hiya we are upgrading from a trailer tent to a second hand fc

to help us to decide on what to get we went this weekend and looked at both the pennine and conway 6 birth versions and decided we liked the conway the best. the reason for this is that with the pennine the salesman said that all the sides need unattatching and throwing on the roof prior to folding wheras the conway doesnt it simply pulls out.

however since i am looking for a second hand one has this always been the case or is it only the new ones. if so which date did they change. we are looking for the quikest to set up

i have also been quite shocked with the price, looked on ebay and you are faced with 10 year old units in the thousands of pounds having not yet met thier reserves what is a good price to pay?

Have you seen the thread for the Sunncamp venture folding camper which comes brand new at £4000 if you want a canvas unit. (sleeps 6)

Thread new folding camper in this section.....

Also given the weather we are having do look at Dandys as they are so much easier than the canvas jobs.  I never ever have to dry a unit out they are designed to fold away wet!!

My parents bought one of the VERY first Cruisers in 1984 (and it really was one of the first - Conway rushed the delivery so that my parents could camp in it at a big C&CC meet where Conway were keen to have one 'in use'!) - the opening/folding mechanism was the same then as it is now - the only change I have seen is the addition of the little 'pins' in the runners that hold the beds in the open position.

So yes - the canvas stayed down all the time, right from the start of the Cruisers.

there is some bargins to be had out there, we bought our conway cruiser for 75 quid and all it needed was clean and some tlc, we went ott on the tlc but still worth it for all the little comforts we bought for it, if it did`nt workout as camper we had a perfect galvanised trailer.

so keep looking.

Yep that's right, my old 86 Cruiser (only sold it last month) was the slide out mechanism with all the canvas attached and included the pins to keep the beds in place.
