we have had trouble with our 8watt strip light this weekend,on friday it was bright but saturday it was very very dim i have checked all wires and the battery and all 12v where working fine could the bulbs be on there way out or could it be something else?

probably the bulbs - I had similar probs with my 12v - new tubes - right as rain!

wait a mo since when is a tube a bulb and a bulb a tube,
this is a must see taking a bulb out of a tubelighting unit and fitting a tube, who put the bulb in there in first place

OK serious mode. Most likely cause 12v battery showing less than 12V. Fluorescent tubes last longer than you've had the sterling.

battery fully charged before we left but it was very cold would that have offected the light even thought the other 12v appliances worked ok?

see here wizard had same problem a few weeks ago it was the tubes

the tubes will last years as there is no fillament to break like a bulb but the pwder coating inside gets tired and doesnt move like it should resulting in a dim light

looked at the post and its the same on ours the ends of the tubes where the glass starts have gone brown will change tubes see what happens.

Loads of people had trouble with batteries, this weekend Jason. Some reckoned it might be something to do with being under the electricity pylons. Charge the battery and try again. Might be ok at Rutland, at least you'll have EHU there, if not drink more!!!!!!! Then it won't matter,lol .

Hi if it is very cold the batterys will not give out their best ( how many have failed to start their cars on a cold morning with the battery dying off !! ) in cold weather keep your batterys fully charged and make sure they are topped up with water ( disstilled water and the top of the plates are covered !! ) and you should be fine ! the charge on a battery as to be very low to affect these Fluorescent lights go for new tubes hope you sort it and you are braver then me camping at this time of year lol Paul

tubes changed life a bit brighter with camping.lol.

So were they pennine ones? less than a year old? or stand alone ones. Ours are 5 years old at least and fine.
