Hi, I have just bought one of these and take delivery in February. I need 2 bits of advice if anyone can help;

1, I was told I need to insure it, any ideas at what level and with who?

2 Also for security what is the best bit of kit (not too bulky) that will keep theives from towing it away?

My first trip will be the end of Feb when my wife and I are going down through France towards Portugal, dont know how far we'll get as it depends on how long it will take me to get the thing up!!

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

2-3 hours??? Wow, Hubby and I can put our Camargue (near identical design but bigger as has extension) up in an hour max, and that included most of the pegging down. I don`t hang the inner ceiling though, just the pod inners. Plus another hour to get every last teaspoon out and cushion plumped. Depends on how much stuff we`ve brought, and how much of it was left packed into the unit ready for the next move.

If there`s two adults working with no kids to distract them, you leave the awning zipped on and you only have two persons worth of kit, you should be looking at two hours from arrival to cuppa, really, after your first couple of tries. If you leave as much stuff as possible in the places you`re going to use them in the tt, like clothes in the storage boxes and kitchen stuff in the kitchen, loose stuff like chairs in the car, then you can really streamline the process between campsites. You don`t really even have to make the bed...just make sure the duvet or sleeping bags are flat on the mattress, drop and strap the inner round it and fold. Etc.

Oh yes, security. Best place to keep it is in a garage or firmly chained to a cemented in post. Wheelclamp like a Bulldog is good too. The caravan folk use all sorts of things. Out on the road chain it to your car with a decent bike lock or something during stops. On site, no-one`s going to spend an hour folding it down to pinch it so it will be fine.

Hi Younique,

We too have recently bought a TT, and took security advice from the dealer.

We are not keeping the TT at home, but are storing it at a caravan storage park, and so decided on a Hitchlock and Wheelclamp.

The type you buy depends on the TT. Not all Locks and Clamps fit all TT types. Ask the dealer, you don't have to get it from them if you can get it cheaper elsewhere.

We are members of the Camping and Caravanning Club, and so we took out insurance through them. if you look at their website: http://www.campingandcaravanningclub.co.uk/Category.asp?cat=6 it will give you an idea .

The cover you take depends on what you want, where you are storing it and the age of the Unit.

Our TT was bought from new, we took out the Camping & Caravanning Clubs 5 Star new for old policy. (around £115/annum)

Again it doesn't hurt to get a quote and then ring around.

Hope this helps, enjoy the season.

John

putting the suncamp up for the first time and if it is anything like us for the first time its a puzzle 2-3 hrs for the first time is about right as the instructions are not very clear .Its not so much the main cabin as more the main living area poles that cause the confusion my top tip is to put coloured tape on the sections when up and when you take it down bag the poles up in the seperate bags supplied ie: kitchen section in one front poles in other and remainder in the third bag  enjoy the suncamp we do and cant wait for the lighter nights to arrive and go out again .
