I know its probably be discussed before but i've finally booked my first few days away with electric hook up in my dandy destiny. I'll be camping for 4 nights in the beginning of march. (In Birmingham). I like my home comforts and do tend to feel the cold so i need to get myself a heater for the cold nights. Which is better, fan heater, halogen heater or oil filled radiator? It will just be me and 3 (fairly bouncy) medium sized dogs so the safer the better. Should i be looking for a certain wattage?
We have a halogen heater and fine it does what we need. But, today I've bought a fan heater mainly because my eldest daughter and hubby can't sleep with the light comming off the heater, so we will use the fan heater (lowest setting) through the chilly nights.
in your dandy, i would go for a small oil filled, we used a fan heater in our old, not very insulated caravan, and had trouble keeping it cool enough, a dandy i beleive is much well insulated. we do use a the fan heater now in our awning, which is more draughty.
I've also thought of another query, as i will have electric hook up, is it better to run the fridge off that or use the gas? Does it make any difference?
For general heating we use a panel convector bought for less than £10 from Tesco. It is a metal box with heating elements inside and holes in the top and bottom surface so the air passes through and is much lighter than the oil filled.
It is switchable 500watts (2amp) or 2000watts (8amp) so will operate on a 10 amp supply but you would need to ensure everything else is off at the higher setting. We find our fc is kept warm overnight on the lower setting and it is totally silent unlike our fan heater.

This is what we used too. It never ever tripped the electric anywhere and all you heard is the click of the thermostat.
We used to use it on the frost setting when camping which provides enough background heating
