Yes I hear you groan this topic again   Just curious really as to what you put in yours if you are using the b&q or argos garden box as a front box obviously being on the front end of the trailer tent it cant be too heavy .Also I presume from those of you that have used the garden box it doesent restrict the jockey wheel either ?

I put a fridge & pegs in mine but it is a proper Conway Fridge box need to make sur th fram is stowed to the rear of the trailer to keep my nose weight down to 50kg but no probs. The older Conways hhave an extendable draw bar to allow extra room for the box. Dont know about the A Frame type units

Hi Pecker

I fitted a B&Q garden box last year to my TT, have a look at the image in my gallery.

What do I fit in mine

  • The "john"
  • Coleman 42 litre electric coolbox
  • All the begs and hammer
  • timber pads
  • Tilley lamp
  • fuel for tilley
  • small collapsable table
  • Small rechargeable emergency battery pack plus a range of 12v cables for various uses.

Couple of thing to be wary of is the actual weight you are applying to the nose weight, this can be balanced slightly by adjusting the contents within the TT.

Also need to be aware of your turning circle, you dont want to clobber the box on those tight corners.

Other than that, I could not do without it.

Hope this helps

Andy

I was getting all geared up to buying a second hand Conway box for my old Camargue....then I realised as it had factory fitted brakes, there was no room to put a box, as the drawbar was already extended to make room for these, duhhhhh.....

Hi Andy100,

Am thinking about doing the same as you have with your front box. Just wondering how oyu managed to securely attach it to your trailer?

Thanks, Vickie

Hi Vickie

I made a base plate from 3/4" marine ply brought from B&Q and cut it to fit inside and if I remember correctly used 1/2" bolts with large washers to spead the load a little and bolted straigtht through to the A frame. There were already two holes in the A frame I just drilled two more.

If all this sounds a little daunting to you, let me know and I will take a few pictures for you but wont be able to get to it until next weekend.

Regards

Andy

after having fitted ours last week have just had a sort out and loaded it up have got awning, awning poles aquaroll and gas in mine. have made mine removeable as it is to high for the begs to fold ou just got it sat on angle iron that is bolted to the a frame then a small rachett strap round it and the a frame to hold it on

am slighty worried about the nose weight and think i will have to find out what my car limit is and if it is ok

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the reply. I also found some images by someone else who has done the same thing and looks to have done the same as you.

http://website.lineone.net/~tomcheryl_snell/trailer_front_box_photos.htm

I wasn't sure if I'd need a base of marine ply under the box as well as in it for stability.

Thanks again, Vickie

Hi Vickie

I just placed plywood inside and cut it too shape, you could even use 1" as added strength, if you also put it on the outside its something else to paint each year to keep the moisture out.

Ive used mine for a season now with no problems, any Q's just ask

Andy

PS Just viewed the link, its exactly what I done, I also used a couple of stainless steel self tappers where the plastic end plates fit together just to add a little extra piece of mind, you could also put a strap horizontally around just when travelling.

That one looks a little larger than mine, and using that one you would have to be careful with your turning circle, you dont want to be smacking the corner of it when turning those sharp hairpins!!!

For my Trigano I put my 3 way fridge in, pegs and mallet, gas bottle, ehu lead, and any other small bits and pieces that might fit in there.
