we have just purchased a conway cardinal fc and are very happy with it, it has been very well looked after and comes complete with awning and extention, all skirts and original curtains and the interior is immaculate, amazing considering its age (1988!)

the only thing it hasnt got is a ground sheet, but i havent got the space to put the awning up, so i dont know the footprint size

does anyone know which size i should buy?

I think the awning will be the full length of the unit as it attaches to the body/roof and the bed pods stick out a bit - would give you a rough idea I suppose, good enough for groudsheet cos if its too wide you can always fold a bit....
when are you going to try it or have you already??

hi marynov,

we only bought it last monday, and with the cold snap we have had , we couldnt open it up to have a proper look around until yesterday.

this is our very first fc having sold our camping equipment the day before we bought this, so its all new to us!

and any advice is very welcomed

we are planning to go and try it out at half term and it will probably be freezing! Our fc hasnt got the underfloor heating, as the owner didnt like the idea of a hot grill underfoot (and neither do i!) so whats the best option for electric heating?

thanks!

Skezza, we have a variable power electric thermostatic convection heater and it clicks on & off to keep a steady temp, got it from Argos a while back I think, about £15. We were hoping to get away this last weekend but ended up with the 2 kids ill so that put an end to it! Hoping to get somewhere half term too....

Hi, have you looked at the Conway Owners site http://www.conwayowners.org.uk/, you can click on the Conway Models link in the menu and downloads the Brochure for your model with all the sizes in it

hiya s-j & jason!

well you did let us have a good look at yours,so i will have to show you mine lol!

really cant wait till we can go away in her, she has only had two owners from new, the second being the owners son, thats why its in such good nick! the only thing is that the canvas is abit faded over the pods - err- i mean bedrooms

i have a fan heater but found the fan abit noisy at night, so i think ill try a slimline convector heater this time

and thanks for the link to the conway owners club, had a look but i can only find dimentions for the camper, but not the awning

so i will do what marynov suggested and measure length and guess the width and then get the bigger one  i can always fold it under!

thanks everyone!

we use a fan heater too - it less expensive than using the built in gas heating! and very effective.  mind you i have been seeing halogen heaters in various shops for around a tenner if that helps.

i will take my fan heater and borrow my mums oil rad - and take the hot water bottles just to be sure

We found the oil filled radiator that had kept our motorhome cosy at New Year and in February was no match for a chilly mid-May night in our Cardinal.

A fan heater or a convector would be much better, we borrowed a fan heater. A tip from another FC owner was to use a fan heater at each end on low heat as that keeps both ends warm better than one in the middle on high.

The awning is the same length as the trailer and 2.5 to 3 metres deep.
