Hi

Does anyone have their folding camper serviced? If so what does this involve?,where do you take it? ( local garage or camping place? ) and if you don't mind me asking how much would a service cost me?

We have recently had our FC serviced by a local trailer specialist.

Our service was more about the trailer than the rest of the unit, you can see what he does by checking out the website www.thetrailerdoctor.co.uk

I was most concerned about making sure the brakes were sound and the mechanics of the trailer itself were OK. So a complete strip down of the wheels and brake mechanism, regrease fo the bearings etc. We got the breakaway cable replaced, one of the rear lenses was cracked and so that was replaced too. Also, he fitted a new plug on the electrics. This all came to £85.

Maybe not so handy if you are in Norfolk, but at least you can see what I paid. :)

Thanks for your helpful replies,Our camper is just over 2yrs old and as far as I know has never been serviced so I wondered if I should get it checked over.There are one or two caravan dealers locally so I guess maybe they could help out with quotes or at least advise me on who to contact.

We also live in norfolk and  get our folding camper serviced by Bob of RM Camping Repairs in Halvergate near Gt Yarmouth. He does the servicing for Norwich Camping  and was recommended by them. We have found  him very helpful; and very reasonable charges too. We have a contact number if you are interested or just ring Norwich Camping, I am sure they will help you.

Re cost probably depends upon what you want done. We have a quite  "mature" Conway Cardinal Clubman, which we are selling now as we have just bought a much newer pathfinder. Our last service  was a  full service of all electrics, fridge test, grill, lighting and charging system. Plus  removing, checking and  greasing bearings, corner steadies, braking system, jockey wheel, checking and lights etc - this was £100. 

Hope this helps - worth a call to get an estimate.
