Hi all, first post in a LOOOOONG time, (now separated from husband who never liked camping hence long time!)...are there any single campers on here? I see a lot of couples and not that I mind, but just wondered. If I was ever to go on a meet, would I be the only single camper? Would be nice to meet other singles, that's all. Plus, sometimes couples can be a bit too umm coupley- not saying anyone on here but just in my experience. Well first post and have probably p**sed everyone off! I miss camping, haven't been in ages.
There are loads of single campers on here, I'm one of them, and I'm sure you would probably meet others whether you were on a meet or just general camping. I don't know how far you would be willing to travel but there's a group on here - mainly single parents and solo campers in the north west, though there are a few who travel from other areas - having a meet at Lady Heyes in Frodsham in September. I won't be going as I don't like the site but I'm sure you'd be welcome to join them if you wanted to.

I'm a solo camper...and manage to get off camping at least once a month...Either by myself or on unofficial "Come if you can make it" Meet ups with a mixture of folk from this forum and folk I have met while away....Always been made welcome....And never felt strange or the odd one out as most of them by now know my single status....
I like to socialize...and think I mix really easily with a wide range of people who love the same pastime as I do...
Yep....Can get a bit lonely sometimes...When your out and about on a day out...having no one to share it with/talk to...But I can live with that....
I would keep an eye out for any meet ups being set up in your area in this section...Take the plunge...and join in...

Thanks everyone for the messages! Unfortunately I am a long way from the northwest as I am near Worcester! However will keep my eyes open for any meets and maybe start one myself. I haven't got out much this summer due to recovering from depression (marriage destroyed by cheating husband) but am much much better now and keen to get out! I have been on my own, and it's ok, but not quite the same as going with other people.
Come to Lady Heyes in September lots of solo campers and fun,we are celebrating 2 birthdays and 3 years of solo camping, you will love it,places are going fast at the site
Cherob, another solo female camper here - been camping alone for about fifteen years now (I'm 61). Don't worry about it, just get out there and have fun! Take a good book and some sewing or similar for the quiet moments, and relish being able to do exactly what you want when you want. I've only been to one ukcs Moot so far, which was at Hopleys outside Bewdley, in November. Brrr! Three firepits, lots of blankets and a hot water bottle - and good company round the communal fire and munchies - it was all very enjoyable indeed. Hopleys out of peak season might be a good option. There's a farm shop on site, too.
------------- Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!
Hi all, that is one of the biggest issues,we are all so far apart fuel the price it is.
When I travel south for a meet I try to be away for at least 4 days or leave the van and go back the next week. Never been to the Cotswold’s, so if anyone is thinking of a meet in that area I would be interested.Retired now so my time is my own.
All the best,
Andy

Hi, have been camping for nigh on 20 years with dog as companion and occasionally a friend. Love it on my own though, can please yourself. Work in hospital, surrounded by chatter and noise, all day long, so just long to be in the middle of field somewhere. Do a lot of reading, walking, find nice pub gardens or dog friendly pubs etc. Use FC now for a bit more comfort. Am at Pillaton near Penkridge, Cannock second week in September. Elaine
Hi,
Another Solo camper here. I went down to the South coast for a couple of weeks on my tod ok it did get lonely at points with the days out as others have mentioned but in general I had a great time.
I am over in Suffolk so a bit far from most of the solo meets on here, but now I know I can enjoy solo camping with out to many issues I will be doing much more now!
Im Andy a newbie to this site.I was wondering if anyone has been to Shell island in north wales .Was thinking of going the 2nd week in September for the weekend if anyone fancies it.Its just not the same on your own
