In case anyone is interested:

C&CC Torchlight Festival of Camping

Not for me as I don't like festivals. Never been to one except a 2-day one in my town and I can go there and back by public transport.

EHU is extra on top of the ticket prices, at nearly 80 GBP for 3 nights!!!

Same, never wanted to attend and never will.

I like the idea of a firework festival though, 4 different shows/displays with overnight camping; however, no good for the dog.

Not really my thing either, I think it probably appeals more to younger people with kids though.

Come to Kirkcudbright! Cracking community-run campsite at Silvercraigs overlooking the town, dog walks in the adjacent woods, dark skies. Fishing boats dressed up, little tableaux in house windows, son et lumiére on the castle walls.

Likewise! I hate crowded places.
We have the Stone Valley festival happening on the field at the end of our street over this weekend, but we won't be going. We can hear the music from our back garden anyway and we may have a listen if there are any decent acts on. It was very good last year and all quiet by 11pm.

We went to Knebworth a couple of times years ago, disliked it. Saw The Who at Charlton and Yes at QPR, disliked it. Saw Queen at Wembley Arena, much better. Need to be sitting in a proper seat. Never been attracted to the idea of Glastonbury etc.

Never appealed to me either, but my son and his wife love going to them.

I just don't like crowds and events where one would hang about waiting for things to happen.

Unless it is a food festival where one can pick whatever food on offer, eat and go and find something else that takes one's fancy!

Locally, we have events happening this weekend, and I shall go into town for the food.

Kirkcudbright is incapable of doing crowds, unless you count 3 fishing boats tied up at once, it’s why we’re there at least once a year.
Sadly my nearest excellent food festival will never happen again, because the marquee hire has gone up to £30K for the weekend: too much for the charity to raise, that organised it.

Have noted down Kirkcudbright dates.
Went to Walesby Torchlight last year, as thought need to see what may be missing out on. Took a month to persuade to get proper response from OH. We are in our late 60's. I like Blues, 70's to 80's rock, Moody Blues Chris Rea etc, we both like jazz and big band. None of these were playing!
Much to our surprise we really liked it, and have booked for this year. Didn't feel too crowded, only one morning of drizzle, then a bit windy. Only disappointment was the quality of food stalls. Good to chat to strangers and remeet when same artist we liked was on.

It was very well organised and friendly, have a think about it. I am not a person who likes crowds and shies away from 'organised FUN', hate to be told smile etc.

It will appeal to many of the new members who joined after Covid when they could no longer go to Spain. Certainly not a place for me.

We went along this years to finally try a festival for the first time ever. It wasn't too crowded and not too noisy late at night. Some of the acts were good (never heard of the Lottery Winners, but they were excellent).

I agree with pendywooley that the food choices were uninspiring, and the ice cream vans were expensive, so we normally ate at the tent. There's a Tesco not too far away in Ollerton if you need supplies. However, the coffee and hot chocolate van was very good.

Not sure if I'd go again, but it was good to have experienced it once.

I too have never been to a festival, mainly because I don't like crowds. If I wanted to go to one I wouldn't have to go far because for the past few years there has been a music festival on the field at the end of my road. This year so far there have been three. All very well attended and well run. They have caused no problems at all for local residents like us, and all has been quiet by 11pm each night. Last weekend there was a "festival of bounce" on the field, with loads of bouncy-castles and trampolines etc. Not quite as big as the music festivals, and no trouble whatsoever.
