Forms soon to be available for 2016. In the meantime an update on 2015

The coming of age festival (21st) didn't disappoint, offering an eclectic mix of performances throughout the weekend. Dropping into the main arena on both days were the RAF Falcons parachute display team and once they arrived they paraded and signed autographs too!

Jason Smyths adrenaline stunt show entertained the crowds as he also soared through the air on both his motorcycle and quad bike.

Something new to the festival was the Amazing Racing Pigs, words fail me here, but it did exactly what it said on the side of the can! Quite bizzare.

The Wildcats buzzed in overhead on Sunday with another spectacular display of aerial aerobatics, meanwhile the Lincoln Country Regulators slinged their wild west guns in our second field and the traction engines gently steamed.

The Festival was pleased to make donations totaling £30,000 from the profits of the 2015 event to both the two main charities: CLIC Sargent and the Derbyshire Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance, the organising and various participating groups, and for good measure, many other fund raising folks too!

Thanks for your support.

We are booking for the show but a bit confused over pricing and tickets. Form states we can have two free weekend passes included in price, there are two of us plus two grandchildren do we have to pay for them extra?
One is 6 other is 12 years old.

Thanks for the question...always I think better to ask than guess.
With the weekend caravan fee comes two weekend passes. In your case it makes a lot of sense to use them as the two adult passes. Additional passes can be purchased at a discounted price. Again in your case you will need to purchase two child passes at the discounted price of £4 each. These are also valid all weekend.
I hope that makes sense. Just to draw your attention but the price rises on bookings after the 7th July. If you have any questions you are welcome to ring Geoff and Pauline on 07887 812106 who look after all camping/caravan bookings and will meet you on your arrival at the Festival. You are of course welcome also to leave any further questions on this thread.

Hope the weather picks up and we have a better outcome than Elvaston.

Hi all, we have had this from the Shackerstone Organisers

The Shackerstone Family Festival has a huge amount of sympathy with the regretful decision Elvaston Steam Rally has had to make. We in 2008 had to cancel at the last moment after several days of torrential rain. A decision that by the Saturday morning proved to be correct, when a large part of the site was covered in flood water from the normally tranquil stream – some small comfort. Not only is the initial decision heart-breaking but it means weeks and months of administration with no pleasurable outcome. We also know that heartbreak is felt by all those who attend, whether to take part, run a business, raise funds, stay onsite and camp or just turn up as a member of the public on the days of the event. We cannot change the disappointment your members are feeling but we can offer a small ray of sunshine. We would like to offer to your members an opportunity to still have a strong group meet at a Family event. With that in mind we would like to reduce our camping price to £40 which is something that is close to Elvaston camping fee. I have therefor attached the revised form to replace for any link on the thread or UKCampsite. The price of camping includes two tickets for all weekend. Extra weekend tickets are available on the form with discount prices of £10 for Adults and £4 per child. The tickets are valid all weekend and allow entrance to the evening entertainment that takes place on both Friday and Saturday evening (these evening events are not open to the general public). The closing date for this offer showing this new price has been extended till the 30th July.

Thanks for UKCampsite for posting the update whilst I have been away and unable to do so.
Just to add that those who have already paid and sent their forms in at the old price will receive the difference back in cash from Geoff and Pauline when they arrive at the Festival. This saves us postage and bank fees on the cheques. We hope that is ok with all.

Just a reminder that the special discounted price for UKCampsite members stops being applicable on the 30th July. (see recent postings on this thread)

Currently with the number of caravan bookings being taken it is looking likely that caravan bookings will be closing early in August.

[The number of bookings so far is certainly going to keep Geoff and Pauline busy administering the arrivals - but you will not hear them complain]

Shackerstone Family Festival 2016

Just an update....

....even with the horrible weather on the Saturday (Folk law has already ordained that Moses parted the clouds briefly on the afternoon of the first day to allow for safe passage to the Real Ale marquee.) However I am pleased to report that the Festival spent the latter part of 2016 handing out over £15,000 to some 18 charities and local projects ranging from £200 to £3,000.

So if you came, saw, swam or any of that other stuff....Thank you

Shackerstone Family Festival 2017 is set for the weekend 2nd and 3rd September. The Discounted application form will be available for UKCampsite members sometime around Easter (hopefully before).

Spoiler alert ---- It will feature Knights, Gorillas, Stuntmen, Dinosaurs, Wrestling, Wheels of Death, Funny Dogs...and a whole host of...oh lets wait and see.
